COVID-19 UPDATE

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore, we will not fear ....

Summit Family, this morning we made the difficult decision as an elder team to cancel our Sunday gathering this coming Sunday and until further notice as we monitor the rapidly changing situation with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

In the last 48 hours we have seen some significant shifts in the way this outbreak is being talked about and handled. The World Health Organization officially labeled the situation a pandemic. In an effort to contain the outbreak in Washington state, Governor Inslee issued a ban on gatherings of more than 250 people in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. Stringent regulations were also placed on smaller gatherings, including limiting contact of people in close proximity of each other to 10 minutes or less.

As we’ve prayerfully watched this situation develop and talked with other local churches we’ve increasingly felt foregoing our Sunday gathering is the best way to honor the government authorities, love our church and our neighbors, and help slow the spread of this virus. We are still determining whether our community groups should meet and will get more information out to you in the next few days.

This Sunday we will have a short online devotional service that we hope you and your family will take part in. We will share some important updates, sing and pray together, and Pastor Ryan and Pastor Ben will share some thoughts from God’s Word. We will send you detailed information in the next few days for how to access that through our website and other means.

Being physically apart during the next several weeks does not mean we need to be spiritually or emotionally distant. Three years ago we went through a significant flood that displaced us from our building. During that season we were reminded what the church truly is - God’s people joined in Christ. Though we’re not meeting during this time, we don’t have to stop caring, praying and connecting. We are praying this season will help us go deeper together, and deeper in Christ.

We will be communicating over the next several days some practical systems and strategies for us to stay connected as a church family. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Your Summit Elder Team.
